Infostealer
An infostealer is a thief that lives in your computer. It grabs every password you've saved in your browser, your credit card info from autofill, your crypto wallet data, and anything else valuable. Then it sends everything to hackers who either use it themselves or sell it to other criminals.
What is Infostealer?
An infostealer (information stealer) is malware designed to harvest sensitive data from infected computers. It targets browser-saved passwords, cookies, cryptocurrency wallets, credit card data, and authentication tokens. The stolen data is sent to attackers and often sold on dark web markets.
Why Should You Care?
Infostealers are one of the fastest-growing threats to businesses. A single infected employee laptop can leak every credential saved in their browser - including VPN, email, banking, and internal system passwords. This often leads to full business compromise, and the victim doesn't even know until it's too late.

Real-World Example
An employee at a marketing agency downloaded what they thought was free design software. It was bundled with RedLine infostealer. Within hours, the malware had harvested 200+ saved passwords, including their Office 365 credentials. Attackers used those to access client accounts and send phishing emails to the agency's entire client list.
How to Protect Against Infostealer
- 1.
Never save passwords in your browser - use a password manager instead
- 2.
Only download software from official sources
- 3.
Install reputable endpoint protection
- 4.
Enable 2FA on all accounts (stops stolen passwords from being useful)
- 5.
Monitor dark web for leaked credentials from your domain
- 6.
Avoid pirated software and "cracked" applications
